Spare parts for Korean car is a headache, very expensive.

Think twice before buying.

Hi steve

you are right,
coz the number is less on the road,
parts are expensive.

Singapore a bit cheaper than malaysia.(less tax on import part)
Kia owner can "bring" from there if stay nearby JB,

Kia Cerato now cost RM 93,000, after driving for 2 years, maybe you can sell for RM 50,000....

Maybe this model will have better than da previous model in resale value as the car offer much2 better spec than our Altis and if the quality do exceed, incl lower maintenance cost than its previous models, it may hold out on its value then.

Again, time will tell

Korean car got good resale value! no way...Kia more worst, cos some of the part spoil, you have to buy the whole set! Hyundai car may be better, for me still cannot trust korean car, japanese car is better especially Toyota!

All Korean cars are the same, Kia and Hyundai belong to the same car manufacturer.

No Resale Value, Expensive spare parts, No imitation spare part, difficult to find 2nd hand spare parts.

However, the quality of Korean car is still better than Proton!!!

If Proton Perdana sells more than RM 100K, then can consider to buy Cerato if you intend to drive the car for 10 years.

Let's give a chance to Cerato Forte,

Exterior designed by previous Audi designer.
That's why those high tech, luxury element can be found
in this C segment compact sedan.

for 1.6 forte, i got no comments, coz it using old engine.
for 2.0 forte, Using the Latest GEMA engine.
this engine is collaborate by General Motor, Chrysler, Mitsubishi, Hyundai (Kia).
Meanwhile, it's common use by above maker to save cost.
Mitsubishi current Lancer 2.0GT are using 4B11, which is same engine.
The differences of each makers are the header, intake manifold, and difference
setting on torque vs rpm range.

There are some useful reference on Wikipedia, "Search Gema Engine"

For my point of view, Korean car not beyond Japanese car standard yet.
But, it 's really improve a lot. Korean car are not far behind and on par soon.

It's similar to Samsung.

Jamestan,

If we give a chance to Kia Cerato, then who will give us a chance??

A small part spoilt, then you need to change the entire part including other parts. Somemore, got money still need to wait for weeks for the parts to arrive. If the car can only move or only safe to move only once the part has changed, then you will need to take a taxi or rent a car to work!!!

Forte is a good quality car. You still need to consider the resale value, spare parts and maintenance, especially in Malaysia culture, only Proton, Toyota, Honda and Nissan are considered, not Korean cars.,
