dear bro,

i've drive 10th gen for about 22mth, still find this car is superb. it just suit to my demand.

anyway, just my 2c, no car is perfect. every car have their pros & cons. it's just a matter of what character you are then you should look for the model which suit you most.

i'm a family guy, so i think altis's specs is very good enough to me. Wink

1 ) the gap from the dashboard to the door panel is larger on the driver side than the passenger side.
Don't quite get you, but it doesn't sound like a prob isn't it?

2 ) The climate control takes a while to work the blower fan when you start the car.  if its already started .. its almost immediate.
That's nothing unusual, mine too. 5 months old.

3 ) my brake pedal feel spongy ... the car stops though.  if i depress it hard it will slowly go to the floor
Mine too. I guess something to do with ECT (can check with technician the purpose of it the next time u bring to service for some info). I am not too sure about it. From what i googled, the level of the pedal can activate ECT at certain extend. Our 10th gen no longer has the press & off button to activate the ect, says it is for better fuel control.

4) i feel wind noise on my driver side door... its the kind of sound like if you did not completely wind up your windows.
Yes, pretty disappointed isn't it? When I thought the noise insulation should be superb.Anyway, it is still less noisy compared to Civic.

5 )  and i can feel the engine harshness through the steering wheel when i drive.
Again, not quite sure what you mean here, the steering is light and easy to drive as I noticed. No complain.

6) road noise is very loud .. could be the Dunlop tyres?
As mentioned at no.4

Hi Lovehewit

thanks for your reply

for point No.1, its not really a problem in terms of the cunction of the car, but its an eyesore when you see the imbalaced gaps on your dash board.  the gap between your doorpanel and my dashboard is not the same for the right side and left side ... i will try to post a picture here next time.

for point no 5., i can feel engine vibration on the steering wheel, like the feeling you get with worn engine mounting ... altought it feels light and easy to turn.

cheers

Hi 10th Altis owners,

Wednesday (9/6) around 4pm was driving from Cyberjaya 5 or 6 KM after the toll gate, nature was against us!! heavy downpour where visibility was less then 10 meters, cars were slowing down and I saw grey 10th gen Altis (WRN ...) had the front (mudguard, bumpers)  trashed, looks like our Altis skidded and whack into the divider and 2 other cars, I immediately slowed down my Altis to 80KM, rain was ok visibility getting better, 4 or 5 KM from the 1st incident, there happen to be another white Altis turn turtle on the fast lane, grey MY-V was has its front taken off too on the side of the road !!!

Was wondering how bad is Altis 10th Gen suspension, Michelin Energy tires ? were they design to kill the drivers?!?

pls be extra careful when you push your Altis to it's limits!! unless you have proper mods such as big rims, suspension,  good tires  and etc ..

Drive safely !!

i was caught in the heavy downpour this afternoon too. I encountered some idiots who speed and overtaking even when the visibility is so low. These are people who don't give a damn abt their own safety and the safety of other drivers as well. It is just unfortunate and coincidence that there were 2 accidents involving Altises. It could be the driver's driving behaviour or other drivers that caused the accidents. Just don't blame accidents on the car itself.

Cars are not designed to kill people.

I found the hanger attached to the front passenger's seat has been emitting rattling noise when the car rolled over to the rough road. Anyone has been experiencing this before? I am planning to make a complain to the SC on my 5000 km service.

1st 'long distance' driving since I bought my ride, I would say this the longest ever drive to Ipoh !! max speed at 160KM/h, after an hour breaks don't seems to be very responsive !! any one had this problem ?
Car floating above 160 KM/h is a known issue. Any one experience disk over heating problems? haven't try going up to genting !! or coming down!!

Car floating is not an issue la because it's toyota corolla altis, maybe u can ask gerry doktor batang who install 2 besi buruk on his altis to reduce car body roll. Normally if drum, it may overheat when coming down from genting but disc brake shouldn't be a problem. I masuk ulu yam then go genting and masuk east coast highway, no problem with the brake.  Grin

From KL, i drove to Penang, Ipoh, JB, Cameron Highlands, Genting highlands, Lumut etc and never ever have a problem on the breaks or what so ever. The drive every time was great and comfy. I drove at 160 b4 too and I had some great race with some monster cars like the VW passat. The floating didn't bother me much (when you were so eager to chase the car in front hehe). But of course, I really hope there'll be improvement on the handling which, as a matter of fact, just not so satisfied.

Only the driver can kill. Cars with larger and wider tyres are actually more dangerous. Please bear in mind that the stock size of the tyre has been designed to carry the weight and balance of the car and while larger rims and tyres look attractive, it gets dangerous for a very simple fact. More rubber, more contact on the wet road.

As far as long distance drives are concerned, i find that the Altis is the best car to have. I bought the Altis not because it's the best car in its class, but the one with the least amount of weaknesses. The specs may be old, but it still works pretty well.

Well, still, the handling isn't satisfying, especially during big cornering.

Bigger / Wider tires will always give you better grip in dry and wet, you don't need to study rocket science to understand this, bigger the surface more traction !! So it's always safer to use bigger rims+tires for your car.
